Our Favorite Detective Vs. The Evil Group

Chapter 3: A Chief Concern

This has got to be one of the weirdest cases I've ever been involved in. I'm not even technically assigned this case, I've just been thrust into it. I can't even contact Chief Geordi... Right... I was supposed to do that. Guess I forgot.

Brrrng brng. Brrrng brng. Seriously. Telephones don't sound like "Ring." I don't know who came up with that word, but in reality: there is a definite "b"-sound at the beginning of the phone signal.

"The number you've reached is not available. Please try again for further circumstances. Error-e code 315. Exchange signal not available." Well, I've never quite heard that on the phone before. I wasn't able to say that about the second time I rang him, though, as I had then heard that before. Clearly, calling the chief is not going to happen.

Anyway, back to the rest of the weirdness. I decided a little outside work needed to happen, so on go back the hat and jacket. If I hadn't already done so, this was a clear sign that it was time to...

Yup.

Take the case!

Case in hand, I go out on the street./It's time to check with, the local beat./I'm not quite sure who I'm gonna meet,/but I hope their info will be, quite the treat.//Lookin' around, it's kind of neat,/the way that everything is... uh... intersparstically missing?

Crap. I think I made up a word again.
I hate it when I do that.

Anyway, what I meat to communicate was that buildings from here and there are missing. They're just gone, just like Water Tower! It's not just on this street alone, in fact, there are entire streets missing in other places! Fortunately, I don't think that any residences are gone, but there are definitely missing people. I've got to find those people. I've got to find out what's going on.

I've got to do it now. I've got to do what I always do. I've got to run. I've got to run to where Water Tower was. That's where this whole mess got started.

Welp. This looks like a good place for a cliffhanger, so this is where I'm putting one. I already know what's next, but do you? Now you can. Do you know what's past ?
