The Bad Guy:

Part 9: The Conference: Part 2?

...she looked just like Ann!!! In fact, she even had the same voice as Ann. I couldn't believe it. It was so weird that I had to talk to her afterward in the hot dog line. Yes, that's right. They were serving hot dogs at the conference. I suppose this would be so that you could try their mustard on one of them.

While I was waiting in line, I wondered what would happen if I got a hot dog without any mustard. Maybe I could make up some story about it being against my religious beliefs. It would be kinda funny cause, I mean, whose religion would be against mustard? Like, that's just ridiculous. I mean, nobody's gonna have some religious belief against mustard. Nobody's got that. Right?

Anyway, I happened to see her serving hot dogs, and fortunately that just happened to be in the line that I was in. Once I reached the top of the line, I approached her and complemented her on the good job she did with the closing ceremonies. She thanked me and then asked me something kind of strange:

"What are you doing here anyway? Are you following me around?"

What? I just met her right now I thought. I mean, she only looked like Ann, but her name was something else. At least, that's what I thought. Unless, of course, Ann was here as well and I just happened to confuse the two.

"I don't understand," I replied. "The chief just sent me down here to go to this conference. I don't even know why he sent me. He just did."

After I said that, I wondered if I had said too much. Maybe I wasn't supposed to mention anything about the chief. But if it was Ann, then she would already know anyway.

"Don't you give me that crap," the woman said. "I mean, if you are really that stupid to believe that the chief would just randomly send you here for no good reason... I mean, come on. Are you that retarded?"

"Well, I must be that retarded cause I remember you telling me that your name was Ann, yet they introduced you as someone else in the ceremony."

"WHY DO I TRUST THE POLICE AT ALL???" she said, looking exasperated. "Can one not give an anonymous tip without the police trying to track down who that person really is? Do you have any ethics at all? Do you have no shame? Seriously, after this conference is over, I'm going straight over to the Arkwood Pond sheriffs departement and filing a grievance. This is just... hold on..."

She paused for a moment. My mind was full of all sorts of questions. Was I sent here to discover who a certain anonymous source was? Why would the departement do that? Did she make up the name Ann, or did I just misinterpret what she said? What has captivated her attention? Why is she...

"Just take a quick look over there real quick, but just look real natural. I think that that might be the man with the paper bag that I was telling you about."
